Light to Unite - World Aids Day
Coverage on World AIDS Day has been spilling out all week - starting with the most recent UNAIDS report, followed by an op-ed from Kofi Annan, New York Times coverage of the complexities in stemming HIV in Africa and finally today’s coverage in a wide variety of outlets on the shortage of healthcare workers to treat HIV/AIDS, the Clinton Foundation’s efforts to make drugs more affordable and Magic Johnson’s efforts to make testing and diagnosis a priority for African-Americans here in the United States.
This World AIDS Day, and for the third year running, Bristol-Myers Squibb is donating $1 to the National AIDS Fund every time someone visits its website and "lights the candle." Please, take a minute now and help fight AIDS: www.lighttounite.org.

This whole concept it thoroughly disgusting. They're giving money to an educational organization that will provide information about treatments, etc. Ironically, BMS manufacturers drugs for HIV / AIDS treatment. Shouldn't they be happily giving money to these type of organizations since, in the end, it'll all come back to their own pockets many times over by drug sales? This whole concept is just a sales tactic to make BMS look good.
